Our country was founded on the lofty principle that all people are created equal - not equal with a few exceptions.

With time, we keep coming closer to that ideal. In the 1860s, slavery was abolished. In the 1920s, women obtained the right to vote. In the 1950s and 1960s, African Americans won recognition of their basic civil rights.

People of faith were at the forefront of each of these great civil rights struggles.

Now, today, America struggles with whether the principle of equality applies to its gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered citizens - its GLBT citizens. This is the great civil rights struggle of our generation.

As people of faith we are called to care passionately about justice. These are important times for the GLBT justice movement. Your individual memberships and financial gifts are critical to sustaining the progress we are making.

Membership Categories

Voting Congregations and Religious Organizations

  • Sustaining Members – $100 to 300 annually
    ICON recognizes that congregations and religious organizations have differing financial resources. Although $300 is recommended as the annual membership fee, any amount starting at $100 is acceptable for annual membership.
Nonvoting Supporting Memberships
  • Individual Membership – $25 annually
  • Household Membership – $40 annually
  • Sustaining Individual or Household – $150 annually
    Members at the Sustaining Level receive invitations to free semiannual dinners to hear progress reports, ask questions, and provide input.
